I tackle this two ways - first I use bloglines for all my subscriptions. I find it easy to scan and there's a function where you can keep a post new. That's another reason I like Alltop - it's also easy to scan the titles. (That's where I found your blog BTW!) Lastly when I routinely skip over a blog in my subscriptions and/or the content is not as relevant anymore I do not hesitate to unsubscribe.
